Happy Birthday Party

Happy Birthday Party

Hi Crafty Friends,

We are back with another birthday card because we all know birthday cards are ALWAYS in demand and this one has its own party going on. Another great thing is that it is all contained in this fabulous Papertrey Ink Cover Plate: Birthday die.

I started with a watercolor panel and a few distress inks (Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, and Festive Berries), and my glass mat. I smooched a patch of each of the colors onto the mat and loosened each color with a little water. Then, I dabbed some Wild Honey ink onto a piece of acetate, then gently pressed it on the watercolor panel in several areas. I continued to work my way down the panel, changing colors (from light to dark) until I ended with Festive Berries. I made sure to dry the panel each time I changed color so I didn’t create a muddy mess.

When the panel was dry, I centered the cover plate over the panel and cut it out, along with a white card stock one too. After punching out all the negative pieces, I stacked and glued the two panels together.

Setting the stacked cutouts aside for a moment, I splattered a Luxe White panel with all the same colors of ink as I used before, plus I added flecks of gold Finetec paint to add a little more sparkle.

Once this panel was dry, I mounted it to a Lollipop card stock card base, then glued the stacked birthday cutout on top. I could have left it there but to pump it up a bit, I cut out another birthday cover plate panel from gold glitter paper, then cut apart the ‘Happy’, candle flames, and the stars and glued them on top.

To finish, I added a few more glittery stars and enamel dots. Now it is all done – YAY!
