Have A Merry Berry Christmas

Have A Merry Berry Christmas

Hi Creative Friends,

I am back with a holiday card featuring a wonderful stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink called Merry Berry Wreath, along with the Holly-days die set from Penny Black. When these two sets came together, it created holiday magic!

This card design is all about the wreath, so let’s start there. First, I cut out of Neenah white card stock the wreath and ‘Joy’ sentiment, retaining both the negative and positive parts after it was cut out. Then both pieces were left intact and mounted in a stamp positioner. This method will hold the wreath and ‘Joy’ perfectly and insure perfect placement when you want to stamp again to insure you get a good layer of ink. Also, I made sure to apply anti-static powder liberally on the paper before stamping. This extra bit of prep work makes a world of difference in the finished product!

These two cutouts were stamped using their coordinating stamps and Versamark ink. They were then heat embossed. I used a green embossing powder (see supply list below) for the first step for the wreath and gold glitter for “Joy”.

The wreath has a two-part stamping process. So next,  I stampeded the berries, then heat embossed them with red embossing powder. Also, to give the “Joy” an extra bit of glitter, I reinserted the ‘Joy’ cutout into its negative space holder, then stamped again over the first embossing with Versamark ink and again, embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. This made the embossing and glitter really stand out!

Next, I added droplets of Nuvo Holiday Cheer glitter drops over some of the berries on the wreath. I only did about 40% of them. There are so many berries I thought the drops would overpower the wreath. Anyway, this way it gives a nice high-low look.

While the droplets were drying, I went on to create the rest of the card. Starting with an A2 white card base, I added a Peppermint red panel on top. Then added a piece of patterned paper from the Wintertime paper pack by Penny Black that was slightly smaller on top of the Peppermint red panel.

Using the Papertrey Ink Love to Layer: Squares die set, I cut out a large square from Peppermint red cardstock and a smaller one from white cardstock. At the same time, I cut out a few sprigs of holly leaves using the Penny Black Holly-days die set. I used two colors of cardstock for this (see supply list).

The red square was layered on top of the card front using foam tape and holly leaves were tucked under the square. Next, the white square was added to the front using foam tape again.

With the droplets now dry, the wreath was placed onto the card front using a few foam squares. The “Joy” sentiment was added along with a ribbon bow. (By the way, there is a bow stamp and die in this set so if you would rather use that one, go for it!

This completes this holiday card. I hope you enjoyed it and hopefully, you came away with some ideas for your next card design!
