Heartfelt Blossoms in Dramatic Color

Heartfelt Blossoms in Dramatic Color

Hi Everyone,

I can’t seem to get enough of the awesome Heartfelt Blossoms stamp and die set by Concord & 9th. The floral border and the beautiful ‘Thinking of You” make for a stunning but easy card design and there are so many ways you can paint or color it.

Yesterday, I shared a watercolor version using a real fav of mine, the Karin Watercolor Brushmarkers. Today I have colored the flowers with Copic alcohol markers and used the matching die set.

One last thing before we jump into the ins and outs of this card design… don’t miss the winner to our Summer giveaway at the end of this post… here’s hoping it’s you!

I used the same technique as yesterday by placing the stamp and Neenah white card stock panel in my stamp positioner and stamped the image with a light ink like Antique Linen distress ink. I left the panel in the positioner and colored all the flowers, border background, and pinstripe border with Copic markers. The colors I used were: Y0000, Y11, Y15, Y17, Y38, YR07, YR24. G40, YG03, G28, R27. W9.

When all the coloring was done, I prepped the panel with anti-static powder, then stamped the image with Versamark ink. Next, I sprinkled on the gold embossing powder, tapped it off, then heat embossed it. This created a crisp and clean outline of all the flowers and borders and made the design pop!

Next, I used the matching die and cut out the center. At the same time, I cut out the ‘Thinking of You” using the included die and a scrap of black card stock. I also cut out the phrase background from a scrap of white card stock.

It was time for assembly. I added a black card stock panel to a white card stock card base, then applied the floral border over top using foam tape so it pops up.

The sentiment was next. It was glued to the white background and foam tape was applied to the back, then pressed on.

To make the finishing touches, I splattered gold Zig ink around the sentiment.

With both versions done, I would love to know which one you liked best, watercolor or alcohol marker?

Thank you to EVERYONE that played along. We will have another giveaway soon so stay tuned. Maybe you will be the next winner!
