Hi Crafty Friends,
We are sharing another Christmas in July card design. We haven’t started holiday inspiration so soon before but we have to say we are enjoying interspersing a few holiday designs here and there. This one is using a beautiful holiday sprig from the Brilliance stamp set by Penny Black.
This card design makes us feel like we are in a thicket of beautiful holiday branches with lovely berries… we are always a sucker for berries!
We started with a hot pressed watercolor panel, the stamp set, and our stamp positioner. With the watercolor panel mounted into our positioner, we first placed the Into The Sky stamp on the upper part of the card panel. From there, we lightly inked just a few of the branches by rubbing the branches with a brown Tombow pen, spritzed, and stamped. We repeated this step a couple more times to have a light sprinkling of brown branches.
With the bare branches stamped, we moved on to the holiday sprigs in the Brilliance stamp set. We took our time here by first placing a sprig over the panel, then colored the individual leaves with a few different Tombow green pens. After inking the sprig leaves, they were lightly spritzed with water, then stamped. Without moving the stamp, we repeated these steps until we were satisfied. Once the leaves were done, we colored the berries first with an orange Tombow pen, then colored some berries with a darker red.
Only when we were completely done with the sprig did we move the stamp to another position and repeated all the same steps. We continued with this technique until the panel was filled with holiday sprigs and berries.
Once all the inking was done and dry, we blended on a little Evergreen Bough distress ink, and Pine Needle distress ink in spots along the top edge using our blending brushes, then tiny splatters of Evergreen Bough and Pine Needle were added, along with splatters of Dr. Ph. Martin Bleedproof ink.
To finish, a holiday sentiment was inked with Lawn Fawn Lobster red ink (we love this rich red color) and stamped using a sentiment from the Happy and Bright stamp set from Penny Black (see supply list below).
With the watercolor panel finished, it was mounted onto a slightly larger Peppermint red panel, then onto a white card base.
This completes our project today. We hoped you enjoyed it and hope to see you next time! ♥
Shauna, I love your card today. Thank you so much for the inspiration. This would be a great card to mass produce!
I am so glad you liked it!
