It’s Dad’s Day

It’s Dad’s Day

Hi Creative Friends,

We are sharing a fun outdoor BBQ card that can work for the Dad’s in your family or it is perfect to use as an invite to a BBQ, celebrate the 4th of July, or birthday. Just change the sentiment and you are ready to go.

We used the delightful Dad’s Time stamp and die set by Papertrey Ink. It has Dad icons like a tie, wrench, golf club with a ball, and of course this charming little BBQ so you can make it work for just about any guy on your list.

This is a quick card to make. We started with a white A2 cardstock card base, then cut out a star-studded border using Twinkle border die and Kraft cardstock. Next, we cut out a strip of ‘Woodwork’ from Pure Poppy cardstock. At the same time, we cut out two different-sized decorative circles using the Scalloped Circles die set. Pure Poppy cardstock was used for the larger circle and white card stock for the smaller. While we were in the die-cutting mood, we also cut out a white cardstock frame using the Skinny Stitched Frame die set.

With most of the pieces ready and waiting, we made the few remaining pieces. First, we cut out the tiny BBQ (we love everything tiny, don’t you?) from white cardstock and then stamped it with True Black ink. It was colored with a few alcohol markers (see supply list below).

It was time to do a little heat embossing. Starting with the sentiment, we used the sentiment in the stamp set and stamped it onto a strip of Kraft cardstock with Versamark ink, then heat embossed with white opaque embossing powder. Next, with a piece of Indigo blue cardstock (the piece was just big enough to fit inside the white stitched frame), we stamped the woodgrain pattern using the Weathered Wood stamp and Versamark ink, and white heat embossed that too.

Working from the bottom up, so to speak, we glued the Twinkle border onto the white card base. Next, we added the red strip of ‘woodwork’. The navy blue ‘woodgrain’ panel was next with the white stitched frame on top to finish the edges.

Next, the red circle, then the white one were added. To complete the card, the BBQ and sentiment were pressed into place using a few foam squares.

And there we have it… a festive card that can be used for lots of occasions!
