Juicy Summer Watermelon

Juicy Summer Watermelon

Hi Creative Friends,

Pretty Pink Posh’s summer release is here and they have all the perfect stamps and dies for the summer! Like their new Watermelon stamp and die set. It makes a wonderful summer greeting!

This card design is an easy make! I started by stenciling the background using the Layered Watermelon stencil set, a Bristol paper panel,  and a few distress inks. For the pinks, I used Saltwater Taffy first, then Picked Raspberry and for the rind I used Crushed Olive, followed by Mowed Lawn. The seeds were colored with Black Soot distress ink.

Next, I cut out all the pieces in the Watermelon die set, then stamped them using the stamps in the watermelon set and Memento ink. They were then colored using Copic markers. Here are the colors I used:

Watermelon: R20, R32, RV04, YG03, G07, G17

Leaves: YG03, G07, G17

To put this card together, I made an A2 white card base with the corners rounded using aa chomper (or you can use a corner rounder punch – see supply list). I also cut a sheet of green gingham paper from the Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham Rainbow paper pack into an A2 size with the corners rounded.

The watermelon stenciled panel was trimmed a little smaller with the corners rounded. A thin foam backing was added and then mounted to the gingham panel. A thin pink grosgrain ribbon was tied around the center, then the whole assembly was applied to the front of the card base.

To finish, a scalloped panel was cut from white cardstock using the charming Scallop Squares die set by Moda Scrap. A foam backing was added, then applied to the watermelon panel. The watermelon pieces were then arranged and attached with foam squares, along with the sentiment.

And there we have it… a cute, summery greeting!
