Just Wishing…

Just Wishing…

Hi Creative Friends,

I am jumping back into the holiday to share a new card design featuring the sweet and festive hedgehog, Just Wishing… . Isn’t he the most adorable holiday hedgehog? I am in love!

I started with the super cute hedgehog by stamping him onto a piece of Spectrum Noir cardstock using an alcohol marker-friendly ink like Memento Tuxedo Black.

Now ready to color, I used a few Copic markers. The markers I used were:
Santa Hat: C2 for the fur, R32, R29, R56
Hedgehog: C2, C4, W3, YR24, E21, RV10, R20
Present: YG03, G94

Once done coloring, I used a pair of detail scissors and fussy cut out the hedgehog. I am in love with the new Spellbinders Detail Scissors, they are good quality and cut very well! The little hedgie was set aside for now.

I made a white card stock 5×7 card base and a matching front panel from Neenah 110lb. card stock. Then, with the panel, I cut out a 4″ circle and set it aside.

Next, using a piece of Bristol paper (approx 4.5″ square) and a blending brush, I blended on a circle of Tumbled Glass, then added Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot around the edges.

After the ink was dry, I stamped the stars and moon from the hedgehog stamp using Versafine Black Onyx ink.  I could have stamped them earlier but since they were so small, I chose to stamp them now, then color them using an opaque white ink, like my fave, Dr. PH. Martin’s Bleedproof ink instead of bothering with masking them. If you don’t have the bleedproof ink, another good alternative would be to use white acrylic ink. I have put both in the supply list below. By the way, if you love the Dr. Ph. Martin ink as we do, we have more coming in very soon. You can reserve your bottle as we will have a limited supply.

Using the same white ink, I splattered dots of ink for the falling snow.

While the ink was drying, I stamped the sentiment onto the front panel using Versafine Black Onyx ink again, then stamped a tiny sprig of holly (for inquiring minds, the holly was from the Holiday Wagon stamp set by Papertrey Ink).

I cut a snowy ground piece from white card stock and mounted it at the bottom of the circle, then mounted the white panel on top. This whole assembly was then added to the front of the card base.

To finish, my Just wishing hedgehog was added using a few foam squares!
