Let It Snow

Let It Snow

Hi Creative Friends,

We are sharing another card design created using one of the fabulous stamps and die sets from the new release by Papertrey Ink. This one features big, stately trees from the O Holy Night stamp and die set.  The awesome new holiday sentiments are from the Grand Christmas Sentiments sets.

We started with the trees. Using cold-press watercolor paper, we cut out the trees with the coordinating die set, then inked up the stamps with a mixture of Hibiscus Burst and Summer Sunrise (the trunks were stamped with New Leaf ink). We spritzed them with our sprayer and stamped them. That little bit of water on the stamp, combined with using watercolor paper, allowed the ink to move and mingle. It was just what we were looking for!

While the trees dried, we prepared the background. Using a slimline (4.5″ x 8.5″) sized piece of white card stock, we prepped the paper with anti-static powder, stamped ‘snow’ using the included snow stamp, and heat embossed it with Hero Arts white puff embossing powder. This gave us a bit of dimension!

Next, we cut out all the pieces in the Winter Swirls set. We used white card stock, then stamped them with Versamark ink and heat embossed with a pale blue embossing powder.

There was one final piece to complete before assembly. That was the sentiment, There are some awesome holiday sentiments in the brand new Grand Christmas sentiments. Of course, we used the  ‘Let It Snow’ stamp and die. It was stamped with True Black ink. A second layer of card stock was added to the back of the sentiment for strength and a little depth.

With all the elements done, it was just a matter of arranging and securing them to our white card base. The winter swirls were first, then the trees. Before the sentiment went on, a string (like tree garland) of sparkly Stickles glitter was added to each tree and allowed to dry. We know it is nearly impossible to see but if you look very closely, it is there. In real life, it gives a sparkly festive dimension.

The trees were added and the sentiment was added on top to finish our card!
