Let’s Chill

Let’s Chill

Hi Creative Friends,

I am squeezing the last bit of summer out with this serene beach scene. I used a few of my favorites from the latest Honey Bee Stamps release to make it happen. The super cute Beach Bound and Hammock dies from Honey Bee Stamps are perfect for this!

To start, I used a watercolor panel to paint a simple, free-hand background. I used a few blues for the sky and a little darker blues for the ocean. A small part of beach was painted in using a few browns, then a few dots of black and white were added to give variation to the sand.

To add a little interest to the water, I added bits of white using the Dr. Ph. Martin Bleedproof white ink, especially at the beach edge. Check out all the colors used in the supply list below.

With another strip of watercolor paper, I cut a wavy edge, then painted it with the same browns to add another layer to the beach.  Along with the strip, I also cut another wavy-edged piece of vellum.

When the panel was done, I found a stamp from the Papertrey Ink Capitivating Cattails stamp set and used it to stamp a sprig of grass using Versafine Black Onyx ink.

Then, using the Honey Bee Stamps Hammock Honey Cuts set, a black card stock palm tree was cut and assembled. I also cut out a small  portion of fence using the Garden Gate die by My Favorite Things (all the goodies used are in the supply list)

To put the scene altogether, the palm tree and the fence was mounted on the watercolored panel. The sandy beach strip and the vellum strip were mounted over the sandy part of the main panel. This gave a little dimension to the scene. Then, thin clouds were added to the sky

To complete my beach scene, I cut out the surfboard from the Honey Bee Stamps Beach Bound set and colored it with a few Copic markers, then cut out flip-flops and sunglasses from the At The Beach die set to add an extra beachy feel.

For my last finishing touches, I mounted my beach scene to a slightly larger bright yellow panel, then onto a Candy Pearls blue card stock card base.

I thought about adding a sentiment but decided to let the scene speak for itself!
