Merry Poinsettias

Merry Poinsettias

Hi Creative Friends,

Last week we shared a video showcasing all the awesome holiday goodies from Moda Scrap, an Italian craft company. I have chosen a few wonderful dies from that collection to use in today’s project.

I used Flower Mix and Christmas Branches to make this card design come together. Let’s take a look!

This project starts out with an A2 Peppermint red card stock card base and two matching A2-sized card panels from the same paper. One of these panels was adhered to the card base. (You can skip adding this panel to the card base but I like to add a same-sized panel to the front of most of my card design projects. It just seems to give a more professional look and feel!)

For the second panel, I blended Aged Mahogany distress ink around the edges to darken, let it dry, then die-cut it using the Papertrey Ink Decorative Circles cover plate.

Next, I cut out four poinsettia flowers and some white small flowers from the Flower Mix die set. A few hollies were cut out using Evergreen paper, along with some sprigs of pine cut from Sage card stock (see supply list below). I also cut out two ‘Merry’ words from the Merry Xmas die set.

With all the pieces cut out and virtually no coloring or ink blending to do, I assembled two poinsettias by stacking and gluing two flowers together. I did add Aged Mahogany distress ink in the center of each of these flowers, then glued them to the center of each flower. I also added Aged Mahagony to the word ‘Merry’, then stacked and glued the two of them together.

Now it was just a matter of arranging the display of flowers and foliage. I used foam squares to pop them up and secure them to the card front. Once all the flowers were stuck down, I added a few embellishments to give it a little pizazz! which meant gold dimensional dots were added to the white flowers and tiny Stickles Black Diamond dots to the center of the poinsettias.

To finish, the “Merry” word was added for a simple sentiment!

Now, wasn’t that a simple card but it still packs a punch! I hope you enjoyed it and that it sparks a little inspiration for your next project!
