Mushroom Medley

Mushroom Medley

Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am sharing a new card design featuring the Mushroom Medley by Concord & 9th. This set has charming little mushrooms combined with flowers and greenery. I thought it would be fun to display the mushroom arrangement on a dark, embossed background.

I started this card by cutting out all the pieces from the Mushroom Medley die set using bristol paper. Just like my last post featuring St. Nick, you can easily cut out all the pieces from bits of colored card stock, with no ink blending. In fact, it is a great way to use scraps. I, however, love to ink blend. I think it gives a little more depth and interest to the pieces. I also love the blend-ability  bristol paper offers when you ink blend. I used a variety of ink colors by Concord & 9th. Here is a list (you can also find them in the supply list below).

  • Large Mushroom:  Top: Honeysuckle and Poppy. Dots on mushroom: Stems: Sweet Pea, Wheat and Nutmeg:
  • Smaller Mushroom: Top: Grapefruit and Honeysuckle, Dots: Lilac, Stems: Wheat, Nutmeg, and Lilac
  • Tiny Mushroom: Top: Lilac, Dots: Lilac, Stem: Cobblestone
  • Pointed Mushrooms: Top: Tidepool and Cobblestone, Stems: Cobblestone and Nutmeg
  • Greenery: Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, and Evergreen
  • Flowers: Buttercup and Clementine

After all the pieces were colored, they were assembled, glued then set aside while I made the background.

For the background, I embossed an A2-sized panel of ‘Night’ card stock using Knock On Wood embossing folder by Spellbinders, then mounted it onto an A2-sized white card base.

Next, all the darling mushrooms and flowers were arranged on the front of the card base, then attached using foam squares and a bit of glue.

For the sentiment, I made it by using Concord & 9th’s Toadstool dies. I used white cardstock for the background and Slate for the words. The Toadstool sentiment die set contains a string of words, arranged vertically, but no worries… I used them anyway. Only instead of using the string of words, I mounted just the ‘hello’ onto the white cut-out background, then fussy cut around ‘hello’.

The sentiment was mounted for my last step!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project and that it sparked your imagination. See you next time!
