My Favorite Color Is Autumn

My Favorite Color Is Autumn

Hi Creative Friends,

It is time again to have a little fun with Penny Black. As many of you know, Penny Black has so many wonderful stamps and dies, especially if you love nature!

This project uses the beautiful stamp, Autumn Masterpiece. It features a charming little bird perched on a sparsely leaved Autumn branch.

It all starts with a panel of cold-pressed watercolor paper and a larger panel of Kraft paper. I cut a 5×7 piece of Kraft and a 4×6 piece of watercolor panel.

Then, I mounted the stamp and the Kraft panel in my stamp positioner. Using Versafine Black Onyx ink for a crisp, fine impression, I stamped the image first onto the Kraft panel. Next, without moving the stamp or the Kraft panel, I added the watercolor panel on top. With it centered over the Kraft panel, I inked and stamped the image again. Doing it this way, gave me perfect alignment for both panels and it was quick and easy.

Now it was time to paint. I used a few distress inks. The leaves were painted with bits of Wild Honey, Crackling Campfire, Fired Brick, and Peeled Paint. I used Wild Honey, Crackling Campfire, Fired Brick, Lost Shadow, and Black Soot for the bird. The painting was fast and very simple!

When the panel was dry, I trimmed a tiny sliver off each side of the painted panel, then mounted it onto a gold foil backing, then onto the Kraft panel. I then splattered tiny dots of black ink.

When the ink was dry, I mounted the whole assembly onto a 5×7″ when folded) cream card stock card base.

The only thing left was to stamp the sentiment. I used the Penny Black Always Thankful stamp set for this. With the card mounted in my stamp positioner, I stamped the saying using Crackling Campfire… and VIOLA! the card was done! I hope you enjoyed it and came away with a little inspiration!
