Panoramic View

Hi Creative Friends,

We are always so excited to share a post with Heather Telford. She makes some of the most beautiful projects and we are in love with this one. She has used the creative Panoramic stamp by Penny Black, along with another great stamp, Picturesque.

Hello my creative friends,

It has been a while since I was here on the delightful Foiled Fox blog so it is nice to be back. I have a winter scene for you even because where I live the snow is falling and looking quite pretty, especially at sunrise and sunset.

To begin this card I splattered some masking fluidĀ on hot pressed watercolor paper and let it dry. Then I smooshed some kitsch flamingo and faded jeans distress inks on a glass mat, spritzed water to blend the colors, and swiped my panel through the ink. I actually did this a long time ago and set the panel aside. When I decided to use the Penny Black ‘Panoramic’ stamp I reached into my stack of pre-cut watercolor panels and found this blue and pink one. As there was color all over the panel I thought I might not be able to portray a snowy ground but as you can see it did happen.

I stamped the ‘panoramic’ stamp in jet black archival ink then added some foliage from the same set as well as the small set from the PB ‘picturesque’ set of trees. Where the stamping hit a drop of masking fluid and was not dark enough I used a black marker to touch it up.

To create the foreground I tore a piece of a post-it note and masked the lower edge then blended kitsch flamingo and chipped sapphire inks over the torn edge. When I removed the post-it the masked area looked like snow even though it was not white. I could have left it like that but I decided to tear more masks and blend ink over the edges numerous times to fill the sky with clouds.

I added a sentiment from the PB set ‘ever thanks’ in black and trimmed the panel to the exact size of the card front. I quite like the versatile sentiment; it works for more than just a thank you card.

I’d love to hear if there are signs of spring where you live; I’m not expecting it any time soon!
