Posies In Blue

Posies In Blue

Hi Creative Friends,

I hope you are all well and ready to check out the new release from Concord & 9th. The card we are sharing today used the new, super cute Posies Inlay Die. This cover plate type die can be made with literally any color combination you like and you can make a few cards using the same cut out pieces!

For our card design today, we used a few different colors of  blue card stock and accented them with a touch of glitter!

The Posies Inlay die cover plate does all the work. The hardest thing was choosing the color scheme. Since any color palette would be awesome, it was a challenge to decide what way we wanted to go. In the end, we chose a variety of blues.

For this card design all that is really needed was your die-cutting machine, card stock, and glue or a double-stick sheet.

Using seven (yes, 7! believe it or not) different A2-sized colors of card stock and the inlay die, we cut out each panel, then placed the pieces each in their own pile on our work surface.   The colors we used were Glacier, Gumball, Night, Easter Grass, Kiwi Crush, Gold Glitter, and white (check them all out in the supply list below).

Then, we glued the white cut out panel with no flowers in it, onto a solid A2-sized white panel. This gave us our base to add the colored flower pieces to.

Now it was just a matter of adding a little glue where the flower pieces go and pressing them in place. To make sure we had everything the way we wanted, we first put all the pieces in place before gluing, Then, when happy with the arrangement, went back and added glue to make the pieces permanent. By the way, a Marvy Jewel Picker or tweezer (supply list) makes it much easier to move the pieces around.

Hint: if you are more nimble-fingered than us, add a panel of double-sided adhesive sheet to the top of white panel before applying the white cut-out panel (without the flowers), peel off the top protective sheet (revealing the sticking layer), then place the cut-out panel (without the flowers, of course) on top. Now it is sticky in the flower parts so you can simply add the pieces without glue.

However, if you want a little wiggle-time like us, use glue. A fine metal tip on your glue bottle helps, like the one for the Art Institute Glitter glue (in the supply list)

With the flower pieces applied, the panel was done. Next, we mounted our flower panel onto a slightly larger  ‘Night’ cardstock panel, then onto a even slightly larger white cardstock card base.

In the latest Concord & 9th’s release there are a couple of different sentiment sets you can use. We chose the fun Defined stamp and die set but the Delightful Day die set is wonderful too.

We gold embossed the sentiment, then cut it out using the matching die. It was mounted with foam squares to complete our card design.

♥ This card was super fun to make and we love that there are sooooo many color combinations and sentiments you can use to make each card unique.

An extra bonus is that you have lots of pieces left over so you can just change up the arrangement of the colors and create more cards with the already cut pieces!
