Sending You Lots of Happy Wishes

Hi Crafty Friends,

We are sharing an awesome card design by Lisa Tilson of My Card Trip. As many as you know, she is a brilliant card making! She makes every stamp and dies set shine, just like she does with these Christmas Cardinals by My Favorite Things.

Feast your eyes on this beauty, then be sure to pop over to her blog for my inspiration.

Hi everyone, Lisa here today with a festive bonanza featuring the recently released Christmas Cardinals from My Favorite Things. As soon as I saw this set, I just knew I would love to make a card with it – who can resist those sweet birds and jaunty trees!

For this card, I started with my background. I took the MFT Window Pane stencil, taped it down to some 80lb Neenah, and blended Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot Distress Inks in each pane.  I then cleaned off the stencil, placed it back down again, and took it to my spray box where I sprayed a rather large amount of Picket Fence Distress Spray Stain.  It doesn’t show well in the photos sadly and is a little muted in real life. This is probably because I didn’t check my background ink was completely dry before spraying with the distress stain. Because of that, I took a white gel pen and added some snow into each panel.

The images were stamped onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured with Copics. They were then cut with the coordinating die-namics. I did more images than I needed as always and ended up leaving some off – this card is already very busy!

The sweet sentiment is from the set and was white heat embossed onto some red cardstock. I trimmed it into a banner and popped some foam tape on the back.

To assemble the card, I first used double-sided tape to adhere my window panel to a top folding A2 base card. The sentiment was then added in the middle and my images adhered around that. Some are flat but some are popped up. I added a little Tonic Aqua Shimmer to the hats and tails. And that finished the card.  Thank you for joining me today and I will be back soon with another card for you. Until then, happy crafting!
