Summer Seashells By The Seashore

Summer Seashells By The Seashore

Hi Crafty Friends,

Living near the ocean, summer seashells, board-covered walks, and soft, warm sand are my summer vibe. This card design has all these things and it showcases the beautiful Summer Seashells die set by Papertrey Ink – Ink To Paper.

I started with a white card base, then mounted a panel of  Weathervane card stock to cover the whole front of the card. Next, I made 5/8″ strips using more white card stock and applied them to the top of the card just like I did in my last card design (you can check out all the steps here). I made sure I left a tiny gap between the strips so that the gray background could peek through, then trimmed off any uneven edges.

With the white planks (strips) in place on the front of the card, I blended on a little Speckled Egg and a tiny bit of Pumice Stone distress ink on the edges of each plank (again, you can check out the video for detailed instructions).

To get the entire background done before I started on the seashells, I cut a frame using Desert Storm cardstock and one of the dies from the  Papertrey Ink – Ink To Paper Skinny Postage Frames, then applied it to the front of the card with some foam tape.

Next, I started on the seashells. I wanted a pearlescent look to the shells so the luxurious Shimmer Quartz card stock was a perfect match. This is a heavy-weight paper with a beautiful, subtle shine. After the shells were cut, I lightly brushed on color by using a few Papertrey Ink inks. The colors I used were Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Honey Nut, and a dash of Hawaiian Shores.

The shells were arranged and then secured with a bit of foam tape. To add a little more of a sandy look, I dotted some Nuvo Ivory Seashell and Aqua drops around, then added little smatterings of gold stickles for a touch of glitter. Finally, I added a few pearls and bead embellishments, then tucked in a sentiment from the Just Sentiments: Summer mini stamp set that I stamped onto white cardstock with True Black ink.

Now the card is ready to send to a beach-loving friend.
