Sweet Hugs!

Sweet Hugs!

Hi Creative Friends,

I have been so inspired by some of the delightful joyful creations on Instagram lately that I wanted to share a little of that joy with you!  I chose the new Filled with Joy stamp, stencil, and die set by Concord & 9th. I hope you enjoy it!

The Filled With Joy set features cheerful flowers and a nostalgic-shaped vase that you can stencil and cut out or make a charming one-layer card. I took a slightly different approach and only used the flowers and the leaves.

To make the flowers, I used a piece of 110lb. white cardstock and the flower stencils to stencil on a bunch of flowers using blending brushes (or daubers are great too!). I used various colors, often using a lighter color for the outside of the flowers and adding a darker color for the middle of the flower (ie: Lilac and Grape Soda). You can see the colors used in the ‘goodies’ list below. I used the coordinating stencil to add the centers when all the flowers were stenciled. I used Cobblestone ink for that.

Hint: the stencils have been carefully planned and include the title of each stencil on the top, along with registration marks for you to line up your paper!

With all the flowers stenciled, some were cut using the coordinating dies and the others were fussy cut. I used the small leaves in one of the stencils to blend color (eucalyptus and avocado for shading) onto my white cardstock. They were all then fussy-cut out using detail scissors.

The background was created by cutting out a slightly smaller A2 panel of Candy Hearts, then stenciling on the dots (another stencil) using Cobblestone. Unfortunately, the camera didn’t ‘see’ all the dots to photograph them all, but they are there!

The pink panel was then mounted to an A2 white cardstock card panel and the flowers were arranged and applied to the front using foam squares. The same for the leaves.

All that was left was to add the sentiment. I chose “hugs’ from the Papertrey Ink Perfect Pair: Essentials (see supply list) mainly because the set contains matching dies to cut out the outline of the word. I used the crisp and very black ink from Versafine Black Onyx.

And there we have it. I love the cheeriness of the flowers and the simplicity of the design. I hope you like it too and that it filled you with a little joy today too!
