Sweet Kitty Cat

Sweet Kitty Cat

Dear Creative Friends,

I love creating birthday cards. It is the one type of card that is always in need and who could resist an adorable kitty in a charming teacup?

This card is easy to make and great to have at the ready whenever you need a card in a hurry! It starts with a white cardstock card base and a slightly smaller white panel for the card front.

Next, I stamped the Sweet Sip stamp from Penny Black onto a piece of watercolor paper using waterproof ink like Versafine Black Onyx, then used a few distress inks to color. I used Squeezed Lemonade for the base color of the cup, Peacock Feathers for the tiny flowers, then added metallic gold accents using Finetect gold paint.

The kitty was painted with a watery mixture of Black Soot distress ink, a tiny bit of Twisted Citron and gold paint for the collar, and a bit of Worn Lipstick for the nose and ears. Once done, I set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the elements.

Using another piece of white cardstock, I cut out the intertwining circles and butterfly using the Soaring die from Penny Black (check out all the supplies used below). Then, I placed the circles over the card front panel so I had an idea where to blend on a little Salvaged Patina, with Peacock Feathers to darken onto the panel. Next, I splattered dots of Finetec gold paint, along with a few Peacock Feathers ink dots onto the panel.

When all was dry, the panel was adhered to the front of the card by first backing it with a foam panel to pop it up, then gluing it to the card base. The intertwining circles were added next.

The kitty cat and teacup were fussy cut out with a sharp pair of detail scissors, then with foam squares added to the back, the teacup and cat ensemble were mounted in the center.

To finish, the sentiment was stamped with Delicata Golden Glitz ink and the butterfly was added, along with a jewel for a sparkly butterfly body.

The card was done and ready to send – YAY!

Thank you for joining me today. I hope to see you next time!
