Sweet Lofty Petals

Sweet Lofty Petals

Hi Creative Friends,

I am sharing a sweet card design using the new Lofty Petals by Papertrey Ink. These delicate flowers make a wonderful bouquet. Then, when combined with a wax seal, it makes them extra special.

When I began making this card, I didn’t know what direction I wanted to go. When this happens, I start with the main subject. In this case, it was the flowers. So, I cut out all the flowers and stems using watercolor paper, and then stamped them with the corresponding stamps. I used Papertrey Ink ink cubes such as Alluring Amethyst, Winter Wisteria, Plum Pudding, New Leaf, and Ripe Avocado.

Next, I cut out an oval from the Papertrey Ink Love to Layer: Ovals and created the Ornamental Swirl background. Even though the Ornamental Swirl is a hot plate, I inked it with Sweet Blush ink (see supply list), carefully placed a white cardstock panel on top, and ran it through my die-cutting machine using the rubber mat. Viola! a perfect background for my card design!

There are lots of sentiments with the Lofty Petals stamp set. I stamped all of them with Versafine Black Onyx ink, then cut them out with the matching dies. I love having extra sentiments in my stash so when I am in a hurry (which is always!), I can grab one.

It was time to start putting things together so I created an A2 white cardstock card base, then set it aside. Next, I backed the oval with foam and mounted it onto the Ornamental Swirl background created earlier.

The flowers were arranged and mounted on the oval and lavender twine was wrapped around the whole assembly.

I love wax seals and thought this was a great time to use one. So, I melted some wax (combining white wax with lavender), poured it out onto a Waffle Flower Mini Media Mat, and mounted the Sending Flowers seal on top of the wax until set.

Now I could finish my card by mounting the wax seal with glue dots and the sentiment which I mounted onto a banner, then to the card.

That completes my card. I hope you enjoyed it!
