Sweetly Blooming

Sweetly Blooming

Hi Creative Friends,

I am sharing a card design featuring the beautifully elegant stamp by Penny Black called Sweetly. It has gorgeous chrysanthemum-type flowers and buds with graceful leaves. I just love this stamp!

I started out with a 4.25″ x 6″ panel of hot-pressed watercolor paper and I blended Saltwater Taffy distress ink onto it, making it more intense in some areas, then let it dry.

Next, I mounted the panel and the stamp into my stamp positioner and treated the panel liberally with the anti-static pouch. I inked the stamp with Versamark ink and stamped the flowers onto the panel. I repeated this process a few times, making sure I got a good impression, then sprinkled on copper embossing powder, and heat set it.

Now came the really fun part… painting! I used distress reinkers for this. I am in love with the intense color you can get with the reinkers! I used Saltwater Taffy first, then added bits of Festive Berries, Villainous Potion, and Wild Honey. The leaves were colored with Peeled Paint, making it more intense in some areas than others.

When all the coloring was done, I added my sentiment. The flowers in this stamp are perfect for any occasion. They would be wonderful for anyone who loves flowers and nature. Sadly, my niece passed away last week so this one is for my sister. Hopefully, it will ease her pain, even if it is for a moment.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink, then embossed with copper embossing powder.

I decided not to mat this panel but leave it on its own so it was simply mounted on a Vintage Cream card base the same size as the panel when folded.

I am in love with this stamp and will use it many times over, I am sure!
