Totally Dotty by Heather Telford

Totally Dotty by Heather Telford

Hi Everyone,

Heather Telford (IG: @heather.telford), our good friend,  is with us today and she is sharing a super fun and colorful card design. She is using the wacky Totally Dotty stencil by AALL and Create and has created something extra special.

Hi my creative friends,
I hope you are enjoying some relaxing summer days maybe with some crafty time included. I am happy to be sharing a bright and happy card on the Foiled Fox blog today. This card seems very summery to me although I know it could work any time of year.

You’ve probably guessed that I used a stencil to create this panel. I placed the ‘Totally Dotty’ stencil from AALL & CREATE on Neenah Solar white cardstock and blended picked raspberry, wild honey, evergreen bough and salty ocean distress inks over the top. I allowed overlap of the four inks as I blended but kept the green and pink blend minimal as that one isn’t quite as pretty as the others. After blending I lifted the stencil then did more light blending over the dots with the same four inks.

A panel as bright and dotty as this one needed some contrast so I stamped a sentiment from the Penny Black ‘delightful day’ in versafine clair nocturne ink on white cardstock then matted it in black using Waffle Flower nesting square dies to create perfect squares.

I splattered some water drops over the panel to create circle watermarks but they didn’t end up being particularly prominent so I brought in something way bolder and added Simple Stories black enamel dots.

This is a very cool stencil and is quite large at just over 8″x11″. I know I will be using it with gel printing, alcohol inks and no doubt my art journal as well. Let me know what your favourite stencil techniques are; I’m always looking for new ideas.
