Hi Crafty Friends,
I am back with a fun and whimsical card design using one of the fantastic stamp sets by Anita Jeram and Colorado Craft Company. The ‘Watch This‘ stamp set has the most adorable dogs showing off their balancing skills. It is the perfect card for the dog lover in your life!
To start, I stamped the dog with his ball onto a white card stock panel using an alcohol-friendly ink, like My Favorite Things Extreme Hybrid. I then set to work coloring the dog.
I colored him with Copic alcohol markers. I have listed the colors used in the guide below. At the same time, I extended the grass using a Kuretake Zig Mangaka 03 pen. (In case you are wondering, these pens are awesome. You can watercolor or use alcohol markers over them!) I then add a little green for the grassy ground (see guide).
Once the main character was done, I stamped the sentiment. I did use Versafine Black Onyx ink for this as it leaves a crisp, black impression. I also stamped an A2-sized white card stock panel using the Thick and Thin background stamp by My Favorite Things and the same Versafine ink.
I was nearly done. All I had to do was mount the Thick and Thin background to cover the front of an A2 white card base. trim the dog panel to 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″, then mount a very slightly larger Peppermint red card panel to the back so a very thin red border peeked through. To pop it up, I added a foam backing and mounted it to the Thick and Thin background.
To add a subtle bit of pizzaz, I applied a little clear IrRESISTible Pico Embellisher to the nose, ball, and eye.
For your viewing pleasure (hopefully), I have included a pic of the white and black dog version too. I used the same colors of marker except I omitted the browns and substituted them for C0, C2, C3, C5. You will have to let me know which one is your favorite! ♥
