What The World Needs Now… Is More Cheerful Flowers

Hello, and Happy New Year!

We are starting off our first project of the year with more Cheerful Flowers from Concord & 9th. In our last blog post, we used the stamp and die set. For these cards,  we used only the Cheerful Flowers stencil set. This stencil set has six detailed stencils to create full, beautiful blossoms.

When you use all six stencils, you can create a complete background of flowers.  The stencils are extra large (6″x9″) too so you can either make two A2-sized cards out of one full stencil design (two for the time spent on one – YAY!) Or, if you prefer, the stencil is big enough to make a 5″x7″ card.

We created the flower background by using the Cheerful Flowers stencil set, ink daubers and a few Concord & 9th colors. You can check out the colors used in the supply list below.

With the panel done, we had to choose between a single A7 sized background or two A2-sized panels. We decided to make two cards, varying each of them slightly.

Using the first panel, we mounted it onto an A2-sized white card stock card base. Next, using a white car stock panel, we ink blended a few ink colors, Wildberry, Honeysuckle, and Lilac. Then, using the ink-blended panel, we cut out a thin frame using the new A2 Thin Frame die set and the shadow for the word ‘hugs’ (included in the set).

The frame was mounted on the front of the flowered card base and the included hugs die was used for the sentiment. A few gems were added for a touch of sparkle to complete the card.

For the second card, we wanted to change it up a bit. So, using a Karin gold metallic brush marker, we colored the white outline lines with the gold pen, then mounted it on top of a white card base.

A thin frame (A2 Thin Frame die set) was cut from gold foil and mounted around the edge. We used a sentiment from the Defined stamp set by Concord & 9th stamp set. The sentiment was inked and stamped using Versamark ink, then gold heat-embossed.

A cute little bow from the Kristina Werner Gift Bow die set was cut from gold foil and mounted along with the sentiment.

Now that both cards are done, take a look at the two cards together. We were amazed at how different the two floral backgrounds looked. By simply coloring the outlines with gold pen it changed the look entirely! What do you think?
