Hi Crafty Friends,
I am sharing a charming scene of adorable mice decorating their Christmas tree. This delightful stamp set, Wonderful Time, is one of Anita Jeram’s creations from the Colorado Craft Company. Little mice are one of my very favorite critters (as long as they are not in my house!) to color and use so this stamp set was perfect.
By the way, if you haven’t seenĀ Colorado Craft Company’s stamp sets yet, take a little gander at the new ones we just got in. They are killin’ it with their creative and charming designs!
I love the control I have with Copic markers and this scene is perfect for coloring with markers. So… this is where I started. I stamped the image with an alcohol marker friendly ink like My Favorite Things Extreme Black ink onto a Neenah white card panel. I did use a stamp positioner when stamping this image so I could re-stamp it again to get a crisp black impression.
When contemplating the color scheme, I wanted to go with classic holiday colors so here is a list of colors I used:
For the background, I added a little color using the light blue markers (BG000, BG10, BG02) AND C0, C2, C3 for the ‘ground’.
I left the panel in my stamp positioner (MISTI) while I colored it so I could easily add the sentiment. It was stamped with Enchanted Evening blue ink.
Once all was done, I trimmed the edges by using a die from Penny black’s Antique Frame die set, then added foam tape to the back and mounted it onto an A2 sized white card panel.
To finish, I attached the panels to a red Peppermint card base and added a few glossy accents on the mice noses, eyes and star on the tree. To complete the card, a few clear sequins were placed here and there.
Anita’s drawings are so sweet, whimsical & touching & I think you’ve nailed it with this card Shauna! You’ve captured the intent of the images perfectly with your colouring & design elements. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful card!
Thank you for your kind words!
