Time to March with Avery Elle’s Band Camp Friends

Time to March with Avery Elle’s Band Camp Friends

Hi again,

Ruri here, with a new project.  Do you have an endless list of parties your kids want to attend?  We do at our house.  With my sons involved in soccer and school, there is a chance of meeting lots of kids, thus lots of birthday cards are in the need.  This one is made with the Avery Elle Band Camp stamp and die set.  I just love all the adorable animals marching to the beat!

This card comes together with a little Copic coloring of the animals and a watercolored background.  I always have so much fun coloring the animals.  It gives me a chance to sit and relax and color, even if the only time I have is when the kids go to bed. It is a good way for me to wind down from the day.

Here is a close-up of all the animals.  I first stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar White card stock and then colored them with Copic markers.  I have listed all the markers I used in the supply list below.  I like to color the body first with the lighter color and then outline it with a coordinating darker color, then add the little accents.

With the animals done, I used a panel of watercolor paper and colored the background with the Peerless watercolors.  I started with the darker color, “Japonica scarlet” and added “Orange yellow”and then blended in the color “Brilliant yellow” at the end.  The Peerless Watercolors blend so beautifully that it was easy to create this ombre effect. After the background was dry, I stamped the little stars with Scattered Straw distress ink.

With all the pieces ready to go, I felt there was something missing.  So, looking at the stamp set, I noticed the musical note set.  I thought they would be great as a piece of music, so I cut a curved cardboard piece to use as a template and traced the 5 wavy musical lines onto vellum with a  white gel pen and added the notes with Lawn Fawn’s Yeti white pigment ink.    Then, I cut it out and there we go – music!

To finish up, I adhered the watercolored panel to the white card base, mounted the animals with foam tape and used glue dots on the ends of the vellum music.  And there we are, all ready to go!
