Cottontail Easter Card by Ruri Duarte

Cottontail Easter Card by Ruri Duarte

Hi there,

Ruri here, it has been awhile so I am extra excited to be visiting today. Easter is right around the corner so I thought an Easter card, filled with bunnies and eggs would be just the appropriate thing. In the next few days, I will be featuring a little treat bag that would be perfect for each place setting for the Easter table or for the little ones.

Easter Card by Ruri Duarte of The Foiled Fox
I started by stamping the bunny and the girl, a carrot, the flower and of course, an Easter egg, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Neat & Tangled Cottontail Cuties stamp set.  Each element was colored using Copic markers and then cut out and set aside for now. The markers used are listed in this handy reference below and also in the complete supply list at the end.

I die cut one small and one large scalloped circle using the  Lawn Fawn Scalloped Circle Stackables lawn cuts, then stacked the two pieces together to create a frame. Once the frame was created, I colored/sprayed the frame with Ranger Dina Wakley Lapis mica spray and set it aside to dry.

Starting with a piece of white card stock 5.5″ x 11″, then scoring down the middle of the 11″ side to form the card base, I die cut a scallop circle on one side to create a front scalloped window. ( again using the Lawn Fawn scalloped circle stackables).

Next, using the  Memento “New sprout” color ink and a blending tool,  I colored two pieces of white stock to create my own green cardstock. I then die cut two pieces using the  Lawn Fawn grassy border lawn cuts (die). Once the grass was made,
I die cut these same two pieces again on the bottom with the Lawn Fawn scalloped circles so that the grass would have a rounded, finished look. I placed one behind the previously created blue frame and the other mounted in the inside, centered with the cut-out window.  This gives a two-layer stacked grass look from the front and a little grassy scene inside the card.
I placed the blue frame with the grassy border on the front where I created the window. Then, added the little girl and some DIY clouds with foam tape and glued the bunny, carrot, an egg in place. (FYI: DIY clouds were made by hand-cutting two clouds from white cardstock I had embossed with the Sizzix Party Dots embossing folder.)

For the last steps, I stamped the “Happy Easter” sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Happy Easter set and added yellow-orange watercolor to the corners of the card using the Peerless Watercolors.

The card is all done! I hope you enjoyed the project. I will be seeing you real soon with another Easter treat!
