A Sweet Day!
Hi there, crafty friends,
I have a bright, summery one for you today! I love ice cream, so I couldn’t wait to use the brand new Sweet Americana die set by Papertrey Ink. In this set are lots of summery treats, but it was the ice cream cones that caught my eye!

Starting with the ice cream cones, they were cut from Bristol paper and ink-blended using a few Concord & 9th inks. As many of you know, I love to create my own blends of color, so I usually start with Bristol paper for easy ink blending. But, as always, you can use colored cardstock too!
I used Pink Lemonade and Berry Kiss for one ice cream and Buttercup and Clementine for the second. Each of the sugar cones was ink-blended with a light coat of Spiced Cider and shaded with Nutmeg. The lattice part of the cone was lightly colored with Nutmeg, then dots of glue were added so I could sprinkle glitter on top for a sugary appearance. ist). Finally, the cherry was colored with Berry Kiss and Brickyard. A few glittery Stickles accents were added to the ice cream and cherry, along with a few sprinkles (see supply list).
With the ice cream cones completed, I moved on to the background. The new Lisa Horton Open Lace and Landscapes die set helped me out with that. There are a few dies in this set that help you create a layered look.

The first die I used was the Open Lace one, and I cut it out of Beeswax yellow cardstock. Then, the inside panel was cut from white cardstock using another die in the set.
This white panel was used to stencil the ray. I used the So Radiant stencil by Papertrey Ink and Pink Lemonade and finished with Buttercup yellow.
The card was assembled by making an A2-sized Tutu pink panel, then a Pool blue one a little smaller, mounted on top. The corners of the blue one were rounded with a Chomper (see supply list below) so it could match up with the yellow Open Lace panel. The stenciled one was next.

With the base completed, it was just a matter of mounting the ice cream cones on top with foam and adding a sentiment that was stamped and cut out using the Hey Cupcake set by Waffle Flower.
For a last touch, a few star enamel dots were added from my stash. ♥
