Full of Love & Happiness

Hi Creative Friends,

In my last post, I mentioned I would be using the Bitty Floral set by Hero Arts again. Little did you know, it would be in the very next post! I couldn’t leave it without using the flowers in a totally different way to show you how versatile this set really is.

The last time, if you remember, I used the whole cover plate, background and all. Here is a quick pic to refresh your memory, see how vastly different the two card designs look!

For today’s card design, I stenciled the flowers and leaves, cut them out just like before, only this time I only used the flowers and leaves, not the background. To do this, I grabbed a piece of Bristol paper for easy blending and used Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick for the flowers, leaving the smaller flowers white. The centers were colored with Wild Honey and the leaves with Concord & 9th Eucalyptus green.

To spice things up, I also used the brand new Greenwich Market Frame by Spellbinders (see supply list below) to make my background. I love this embossing folder. It cuts and embosses – YAY! One tip though: cut it out first, then emboss. That way the embossing stays crisp and deep!

The embossing folder also includes a few dies, including the smaller rectangle. I cut one out from the same Indigo blue cardstock used before and stamped the sentiment (Penny Black’s Delightful Day) with Versamark ink, then white heat embossed it. By the way, really, really prep your rectangle with anti-static powder before sprinkling on the embossing powder. The words are small and you don’t want any embossing powder particles where they don’t belong!

To finish, the Greenwich frame was mounted with foam tape onto the cardbase; the rectangle was mounted next, with foam tape too. The flowers and leaves were arranged and glued, with a few popped up with foam squares.

The card was done and I am loving the dark blue background against the pink flowers. I hope you like it too!!
