Joyous Noel

Joyous Noel

Hi Cardmaking Friends,

Featured in Papertrey Ink’s latest release was a wonderful Build-A-Christmas Tree die set. The tree is a lacy, full tree that also has additional decorations to create a Christmas tree with all the trimmings. There are countless ways to create with this die set. Here is just one of them.

I started with the tree, of course. You can’t see it too well in the pics, but if you look closely, I cut three trees and layered them.

The first layer was cut from cold-pressed watercolor paper and painted using Bundled Sage, Iced Spruce, and a splash of Peeled Paint distress inks. The second and third layers were cut from Eucalyptus cardstock, with one layer colored on the edges with Forest Moss distress ink. Foam strips were added to the back of each layer, then stacked and pressed together.

The tree was decorated with gold foil garland and ornaments. A few gold confetti from Pretty Pink Posh were added for some smaller ornaments. Then, the tree was topped with a gold glitter bow.

With the tree done, I turned my attention to the foundation, which is a 5×7 Alabaster cream cardstock card base and a matching panel.

The panel was then trimmed out with a thin gold foil outline with a Forest green insert. The thin outline was easy when you use one of Kristina Werner’s thin frame die sets.

I love using Spellbinders’ Merry Messages sentiment set. You can either letterpress the sentiments using the Spellbinders BetterPress system or gold-foil the sentiments using the Spellbinders Glimmer machine. I have used it both ways, and each gives you a glorious result, but as you can see, I chose the gold-foiled ones for this card.

To finish, I painted round, gold metallic dots of ink around the tree.

I love the elegance of this green and gold card. I hope you liked it too!
