Christmas Poinsettias
Hi Cardmaking Friends,
I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest… Sadly,I didn’t catch the maker’s name, but it was beautiful. I just had to make something akin to it! I can never resist making at least one card every holiday season that is poinsettia-centric. I love these beautiful open flowers. They are filled with yummy festive colors. The Lovely Layers: Poinsettia from Honey Bee Stamps was perfect for this!

Each flower has a few layers, so I cut out a bunch of the flowers and leaves from Bristol paper (for easy ink blending) and blended on color using my trusty ink daubers. I love using ink daubers for smaller areas. That way I can put the color exactly where I want it! The colors I used were Honeysuckle first, then Poppy, and to achieve the darker color for the one flower, I also used Brickyard. The leaves were ink blended with Pistachio and Juniper

The flowers were assembled with a spot of glue in the center of each layer. The centers were colored with Delicata Golden Glitz ink, and a few drops of Nuvo Gold drops were added for dimension.
The “5×7” card base and front panel were cut from Acorn brown cardstock by Spellbinders. Then, using a brush, I splattered white ink on the front panel and a little on the flowers and leaves. Nutmeg brown was also splattered on the flowers and leaves.

Once all was dry, the front panel was affixed to the card base and the flowers arranged. A sentiment was made using Concord & 9th’s Classic Holiday Greetings die set and added to complete my card.
I love the bold flowers and the matching sentiment. I hope you did too! ♥
