Hi Everyone,
I am popping in with a fun, critter-filled card design. Sometimes you just have to fill your life with a few critters, especially when they are as cute as these.! This design comes together using adorable stamps and dies by My Favorite Things called Wheelie Great Friend.
I started out by stamping and cutting out all the critters onto Neenah 110lb. white cardstock, using the MFT Extreme Black Ink that is alcohol ink friendly. I then colored all the critters, bikes, and carriages with Copic alcohol markers. Here is a list of the markers used.
I usually start with the main characters. When done, it gives me a better idea of how I want to display them on the card front. For this design, I decided to create a mini scene in a 4″ circle.
To make the mini scene, I first cut a grassy-edged strip by using Lawn Fawn’s Grassy Hillside dies from a piece of Easter Grass green cardstock. I then glued it to the bottom of a square of white card stock. Next, I aligned the 4″ circle die where I wanted it to be and cut the whole thing out.
To finish (well, nearly), I lightly brushed on Peacock Feathers distress ink with a blending brush, then splattered on some spots using the same ink and set it aside so I could work on the background.
The main panel of the card was made using white cardstock, MFT Radiating Rays stencil, and Papertrey Ink’s Green Parakeet ink. I placed the stencil over top and lightly blended on ink. Since my panel was a little longer on the sides than the stencil was, I masked both sides of one ray used some Post-it tape, then extended the color with my blending brush. Once that ray was finished, I moved the tape to the next ray and repeated my steps. Fortunately, there were only a few rays on the sides so it didn’t take long!
With the main panel done, I mounted it on top of a Juicy Pear green card stock card base, then added the circle mini scene. The critters were arranged and added with foam tape. Then, added some clouds that I had cut out of white card stock using Cute Cloud Outlines by MFT.
I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set onto a white card stock strip, using the same black ink as before. I trimmed the edges and mounted it to the bottom of the card. A few bubbles were cut, then stamped and colored to add to the scene. My finishing touch was to add the Happy Birthday banner.
And there you have it… a card filled with cutie-patootie critters ready to wish someone a Happy Birthday! ♥
