Hi Creative Friends,
There are lots and lots of new goodies from Spellbinders’ new release in our shop. They are all so beautiful, I found it impossible to pick just one! So, here is another!
If you caught our last blog post, then you saw the elegant Kaleidoscope Arch die set in action. Today, I am showcasing the big and bold Fresh Picked Daffodils. This die set, and many others, are reminiscent of an era gone by and I just love them!
I started by making an A2 white card base. For the front of the card base, I used two black cardstock A2 panels, sandwiched together, then imprinted with the Infinity Punch and Pierce plate. By using a double thickness of card stock and the plate, then running it through the die-cutting machine, it produced a deep impression of this gorgeous design. The black imprinted panel was then mounted to the front of the base.
With the card base and front done, I cut out all the pieces of the Fresh Picked Daffodils die set from bristol paper. As you know, bristol paper is awesome for blending color.
I started with the leaves and blended on Rustic Wilderness distress ink and used Pine Needles distress ink for the shading. Next, I colored the flowers by first blending on Mustard Seed distress ink, then shading them with a touch of Dried Marigold and Ripe Persimmon. The centers and stamens were colored with Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry.
Once the ink was dry, I mounted the leaves with a bit of glue and popped up the flowers with a few foam squares.
For the sentiment I turned to a letterpress sentiment from the Spellbinders It’s Your Day press plate set (see supply list below). There are lots of very great sentiments in this set and you can print them all at once and so very simply by mounting the press plate in the Betterpress system base, inking it with black Betterpress ink, then running it through the die-cutting machine.
There is a matching die with this sentiment set too that cuts out all the sentiments at one time. This yields lots of sentiments. I picked one and saved the rest for future projects. I just love it when I can do this as I know it will save me time in the next project!
That completes the project for today. It came together so quickly and I think makes a big impact with the dramatic black background and bright yellow flowers. I hope you enjoyed it too… see you next time! ♥
