Stitched Floral Kaleidoscope

Stitched Floral Kaleidoscope

Hi Crafty Friends,

Here we are in a new year – YAY! We have another year of fun-filled projects! To start the year, we are using a charming new die set from Spellbinders called The Kaleidoscope Arch. It creates the sweetest flowers and a beautiful fan that you can stitch.

We first cut an A2 white card stock card panel and matching card base. Then, we opened the new Spellbinders Column embossing folder to the inside. One side has raised lines outlining the columns, and the other side has the raised interior of the columns. We covered this side (raised interiors) with Harbor blue ink (see supply list), then carefully aligned and placed our panel and closed the folder. It was then run through our die-cutting machine. The panel was then removed and applied to the front of the card base, then set aside.

Next up were the flowers and fan. The fan was cut from white card stock, along with the banner and sentiment. To accent the banner and the open diamond work at the bottom of the fan, we cut a banner and the diamond semi-circular pieces from gold foil and glued them to the back of the corresponding pieces. This just added a tiny hint of gold to the design.

We also cut out the flowers and leaves from the included dies. We used scraps of colored cardstock we had on hand but we have also included the colors used in the ‘goodies used’ list below. One thing that we really loved about this die set is that everything you need is included in this one set!

Now working with the fan and some elegant gold thread by DMC, we stitched the semi-circular part of the fan. Two strands of thread worked great!

After the fan was stitched, it was glued to the front of the card base and the banner mounted on top. The flowers were arranged and mounted in place with small foam squares. To finish the flowers and the card, we added gold glitter paper centers to our flowers.

We have a lot of fun making this card design to share with you. We hope you enjoyed it too!
