Enjoy The Little Things Leaf Canopy

Hello Everyone,

Today we are sharing a fun and easy card using the Altenew Leaf Canopy stamp and die set. This set has delicate sprays of leaves that make creating a beautiful project a snap.  Let’s check out how it all comes together.

This card starts out with a piece of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, Altenew Watercolor stripes stencil and Lawn Fawn Yeti ink. With the stencil taped to my work surface with the stripes horizontal (and as straight as possible) and the Desert Storm rectangle tucked under it, I blended the white ink with a blending tool onto the panel. When the panel was dry (this ink takes awhile), I ran it through the die cutter and cut out the shape using the MOD rectangle die set by My Favorite Things… then set it aside for later.

Next, I prepped a piece of watercolor paper with an anti-static bag and stamped the leaves with Versamark ink, sprinkled it with Altenew’s Rose Gold embossing powder, tapped off the excess and heat embossed it.

The leaves were watercolored by first applying a thin layer of clean water then adding watercolor. I used three wonderful Daniel Smith colors: Prussian Green, Deep Sap Green and Serpentine Green but of course, you can use whatever watercolors you have on hand.

(Tip: If you have been wanting to try out the Daniel Smith watercolors, a great way to get tons of colors to try and make projects is to get a Daniel Smith dot chart. They last for lots of projects and give you sooo many colors to try out.)

After the leaves were dry, they were cut out using the matching Leaf Canopy dies.

Next, was the sentiment. This sentiment was from the Altenew Charmed stamp set. It was stamped onto a strip of Neenah white cardstock and then sprinkled with the same Rose Gold embossing powder as before and heat embossed. A flag end was hand cut on one end.

The only thing left to do was to assemble and add a few embellishments. So, starting with a white card base with the fold at the top, the Desert Storm panel was popped up with some craft foam, then adhered to the card base. I decided I wanted to add a little extra something so I stamped some ‘controlled’ splatters of the Yeti ink by using a stamp from the Concord & 9th Brushed Blossoms stamp set (see more detail in this video).

Then, I applied some foam tape to the back of the leaves and pressed them into place, added the sentiment the same way and used some enamel dots from the Pinkfresh December Days collection.

And now it’s done – YAY! ♥  …oh, I nearly forgot, I did add a few more ‘controlled’ splatters on the sentiment strip using the Tea Dye distress ink.
