Hi Creative Friends,
With Spring in full swing, flowers are blooming everywhere, including on this new card design. We used a recently released stamp set, Dahlias by Papertrey Ink to create this colorful and bold design.
Let’s get the basics out of the way by creating a white cardstock A2-sized card base from Neenah cardstock. At the same time, we cut out the glorious leaf design from a white panel using the new Elegant Edges: Leaves die by Papertrey Ink and an A2-sized panel of striped True Black bitty Big paper.
With these foundational pieces ready to assemble, we mounted the Bitty Big panel on top of the card front and the Elegant Leaves on top of the Bitty Big paper. It was now time to make the flowers.
The Dahlia set has different-sized flowers. For the large flowers, we created our own colored paper by first blending on patches of Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, and Wild Honey distress inks onto a bristol paper panel. We then splattered water over the top and blotted it dry. This gave the panel a mottled look.
From there, we stamped the largest Dahlia stamps onto the mottled paper using Raspberry Fizz and Orange Zest respectively, then cut them out using the coordinating dies. The small flowers were cut from different colored cardstock, then the centers were stamped with the same two inks. By the way, we know a few of the Papertrey Ink inks are out of stock but they should be available again in the next few days!
The leaves were cut from Green Parakeet card stock, then the veining was stamped with Pinefeather green ink and New Leaf ink blended on for shading.
The flowers were arranged, then mounted with foam squares. The leaves were tucked in here and there, then secured with dots of glue.
Finally, a sentiment from the new Just Sentiments: Quotes stamp set (see supply list) was stamped onto a white strip of cardstock using True Black ink. To finish, the sentiment was mounted with foam squares, and black gems were added to the center of the same flowers for a touch of sparkle! ♥
