Hi Creative Friends,
We have a frosty friend with us today. He is a jolly, fat snowman from the Waffle Flower Snowman and Friends die. This set was a perfect match for us. We all love our birds here and a sweet snowman friend.
We started on the background so it would have time to dry. Using a cold-pressed watercolor A2 panel, we spritzed it with water, sprinkled on Brusho crystal watercolor powder, and let it do its magic. We used Ultramarine, Turquoise, and White. We added more Ultramarine on the right to add a shadow to the snowman. To get the color moving and dissolving a little more, we spritzed it again, but were careful not to oversaturate. The panel was set aside to dry.
Next was the snowman and his tiny bird friends. All the Snowman and Friends die pieces were cut out of bristol paper for easy blending. Using a shader (or a dauber), color was added to the pieces. Here is a guide to the colors used:
Snowman: Worn Lipstick (cheeks), Ripe Persimmon (carrot nose), Tumbled Glass (body), Rusty Hinge and Ground Espresso (twig arms), Lumberjack Plaid and a little Aged Mahogany, a pinch of Mowed Lawn (gloves and cuff), Black Soot (hat)
Birds: Lumberjack Plaid, Aged Mahogany, and a dash of Black Soot for their beaks
For the scarf, I used a red and green alcohol marker to make the plaid and a Micro Pigma pen for the dashed lines
Now that the background was dry, we used Frosty Texture die to cut out the panel and imprint snowflakes. From there, we splattered white dots of ink for snow and used an ultra-fine white Posca pen to outline the snowflakes and sprinkle on a little glitter. It is impossible to see in the pics, but a little sparkle is there.
The panel was adhered to an A2 white card stock card base and dots of Stardust stickles were added at the ends of each snowflake.
On to the snowman. He was assembled and added to the card front with foam tape and squares. Black eyes and buttons were added with Black Diamond Stickles.
To finish, a sentiment was added. We used the super cute Snow Cheer stamp and die set with our favorite sentiment ink, Versafine Black Onyx.
That completes our project for today. The snowman and his friends were sooooo much fun to make. Give it a try and you will see what we mean! Bye for now – we will be back soon! ♥
