Love and Roses

Love and Roses

Hi Creative Friends,

I hope you are having a lovely day! Today I am sharing a simple Love card design using a wonderful roses background stamp from My Favorite Things called Roses All Around and Love hot foil and dies by Pretty Pink Posh. They team up perfectly to make a Valentine’s Day card or just spread your love!

Starting from the ground up, I made an A2 white cardstock card base and cut a white panel that was cut out using the Papertrey Ink Postage border frame. The frame was then glued to the card front.

With the basics done, I inked the Roses All Around stamp with Versamark ink and stamped it onto a piece of hot-pressed watercolor paper, sprinkled on the white embossing powder, tapped the excess off, and heat set it.

The roses were colored with a variety of pinks and reds. I used all distress inks for this by smooching a patch of each color on my work surface, then painting in the sections of the flower. I used Saltwater Taffy, Festive Berries, Candied Apple, and Aged Mahogany for the darker bits.

After the panel was done and completely dry, I trimmed the panel and added a slightly larger black panel to the back so just a tiny border was visible to the front. The panel was then added to the top of the card front.

For the sentiment, I hot foiled a red ‘Love’ using the Pretty Pink Posh hot foil plate and a Spellbinders Glimmer system (see supply list). I used Peppermint red card stock to hot foil on so that if any tiny bits of red foil were missing, it wouldn’t show. The ‘Love’ was then cut out using the Large Love Shadow die. It matches up perfectly – YAY! I also cut out the companion ‘shadow’ piece from a piece of white cardstock.

The shadow and red foil ‘Love’ were glued together, then added it to the top to finish my card!
