Hi there,
Today I am sharing a card that can be used for any occasion to ‘share the love’. This just happens to be for our anniversary, but it can be used for anything. If you are like me, guy cards are always a challenge, especially when my husband likes simple, tailored things… no fanfare. His favorite colors are black and gray so here is my best compliance to his particular likes.
This is a simple card, starting with a card base using Sugar Wafer card stock. This color of card stock has proved to be so useful and versatile! In this case, a square card base was created and stamped with the background, Diagonal Design by My Heart Things. I stamped only the front using one of my very favorite inks, Delicata White Shimmer.
This Delicata ink takes a longer time to dry, so it was set aside. In the meantime, from Neenah 110lb. solar white card stock, I cut out a heart using the Concord & 9th Heartstrings die set. The heart in this die set is so plump and nicely proportioned I find I reach for it often!
I used theĀ Copic Airbrush system to color the heart. I used 3 different colors, starting with the lightest in the upper left, Copic R22, for the middle of the heart, R29 and ending with R89 for the bottom and far right. I purposely allow the darkest color to splatter a bit to give it a speckly finish. If you don’t have an airbrush system (they are great fun!) than using your blending tool and distress inks would be a perfect substitute.
Now that the ink was dry on the front, I cut a heart (using the same Concord & 9th Heartstrings heart) in the center of the front of the card base and then positioned the red heart in the center of the inside of the card so it will fit perfectly through the cut-out in the front of the card.
Next, I cut out the “love” using the Love Always die set by Concord & 9th and a piece of Candy Hearts card stock. With the same Copic colors as used for the heart. I colored over the card stock creating an ombre effect by coloring the top of the word “Love” with the R22, the center with R29 and the bottom with Copic R89. By starting with a colored card stock, it gives an even richer, deeper color to the Copic colors.
The ‘love’ was then slathered using the clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and adhered to both sides of the open heart cut-out. The simple “I Love Us”, from in the Penny Black Forever & Always stamp set, was added using Delicata Black Shimmer ink.
A few clear glitter enamel dots by Doodlebug were added to the front for the finishing touch.
Supply List:
Classy card! I think I need the die set.
