Owl In The Woods

Owl In The Woods

HI Crafty Friends,

We are sharing a sweet little owl in the woods today, created by our good friend, Rosali of I Love Stamping (IG: @ilovestamping). She has made this quick and easy card for your enjoyment using the My Favorite Things Happy Camper stamp and die set.

Beginning with a piece of Bristol paper, Rosali blends on a series of distress oxide inks by starting with the lightest color of Squeezed Lemonade, then moves on to Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn. She works her way down the panel until she ends by blending on the darkest color of green, Pine Needle. Check out how flawless her blending is! These colors are a perfect compliment to one another.

While the panel is drying, Rosali stamps the owl and trees using a light gray ink, like Gina K’s Whisper ink onto a piece of bristol paper. This light ink allows her to use the no-line coloring technique and color them with Winsor & Newton watercolor markers and added a few details with colored pencils. Once the coloring is done, the owl and trees are cut out with the coordinating dies.

It was time to assemble. The colored panel was trimmed down to 2 7/8″ by 4 1/8″, then matted with a slightly larger black cardstock panel. This was then mounted onto a white, A2 sized Neenah card stock card base.

A banner was cut using the My Favorite Things Blueprint 28 die set and Licorice Twist black card stock. Then, using part of one of the sentiment stamps in the set,  she formed the stamp on an acrylic block to match the arc of the banner, then inked and stamped it onto the banner using Versamark ink. It was then white heat embossed.

The sentiment banner was mounted onto the card base, then the cutout elements were arranged and placed with a bit of foam tape to complete the card.
