Simple and Modern Flowers by The Stamp Market

Hi there,

We are super excited today! We get to announce the addition of The Stamp Market to our online store – YAY! The Stamp Market has fresh, clean stamps and dies set that gives a simple and modern look to your designs. Here is our first design, with more to come from super talented guest artists and our own staff. Enjoy!

This card design features the new Botanical stamp and dies set with an offset pattern layout. The stamp set offers a variety of flowers and leaves to gives tons of flexibility in your design.

The card starts with creating the offset background. So, I got out the Make Your Mark background stamp by My Favorite Things which is one of my favorites. I inked it up with random patches of Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon distress oxide ink until it was all covered. I then carefully laid a piece of Neenah 110 lb. white card stock and pressed the ink onto the paper, then peeled it off and set it aside to dry. To make things easier to handle, the paper was a little larger than needed so I could cleanly place and pick up the panel without messing up the ink! The panel was then trimmed to size.

Next, with another white card stock panel, I stamped with Memento Black Tuxedo ink a vertical row of flowers, using the two smaller outline stamps and varying the size. I staggered them to give a more casual, free-flowing look. Then, fussy cut the right edge, following the outline of the flowers.

For the next step, using the solid flower stamp that matches the medium-sized flower, I inked and stamped two flowers with the same three colors of distress oxide ink, using the Ripe Persimmon for the center. These flowers were then cut out using the coordinating dies.

The background, now dry, was mounted onto a slightly larger white card base. The vertical flower row panel was positioned on top of the background, but offset so part of the background was showing. The vertical flower panel was trimmed on the left side to match the edge of the background and adhered with foam tape so it could be popped up.

To finish the card, I stamped with black ink and cut out two of the smallest flowers. Since there wasn’t a solid stamp of the smallest flower, I had to mimic the largest one, by lightly stamping the smallest outline flower with Worn Lipstick distress oxide ink and colored it by stamping a small bit of the same inks onto my glass mat, added a tiny bit of water and used it as my mini watercolor palette.) When the flower was dry, I fussy cut it out.

I then mounted the cut out colored flowers with foam tape and the outline ones with just a bit of glue to give a variety of heights.

The final touch was to stamp the sentiment from the Best Mom stamp set by Penny Black with Versamark clear ink onto black cardstock and heat emboss with white embossing powder. The sentiment was mounted with foam tape and a few enamel dots where added. And, the final, final step was to add tiny dots with a .005 black pen to the center of the flowers for accent. And now,  it is all done

  1. LOVELY! I love the offset background and the vibrant and uplifting color scheme of the entire card. Well Done. I can think of so many way to use the background stamp. (cards that are masculine, “techie” and elegant as you have done. It is so nice to have tools that can be used in various ways. THANKS.
