Special Delivery Mail

Special Delivery Mail

Hi Crafty Friends,

Lawn Fawn is the queen of cute! So it is no surprise that this card design, filled with adorable critters and special delivery mail, is made from a few of their new stamps and dies.

This card design features a lively background created by first masking off a little section at the bottom, then blending on a few distress oxide inks. I started with Tumbled Glass at the bottom and worked my way to the top (being careful to leave a white border at the very top). I added a strip of Broken China, then Mermaid Lagoon, and finally Chipped Sapphire at the very bottom. To complete the background, I peeled off the masking paper at the bottom and added a smattering of Chipped Sapphire at the edge to blend, then splattered Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon, Dr. PH. Martin Bleedprook white ink, and Sumi ink.

Confused about how the background was done, check out this video to show you how.

When dry, the background was adhered to a white card base and set aside for now.

All the adorable letters, owl, etc., were first stamped onto a piece of Neenah 80lb. card stock, using a Copic marker friendly ink. They were then colored with Copic markers (see guide below) and cut out using the coordinating dies.

With the elements complete, I moved on by cutting a balloon. I added a sliver of masking paper for the reflection mark, then blended on Spun Sugar distress oxide ink, with Picked Raspberry and Candied Apple on the edges.

With all the pieces done, it was almost time to assemble. But first, I stamped the sentiment onto the bottom of the card front, using black ink.

Bits of foam tape were added to the back of each element, then pressed into place. To finish, I cut a slit in the top of the special delivery box so that I could jam in a few letters for good measure.
