Today is a good day… to be happy! We think so. Today we have a video to share a fun card using the Happy Day stamp set by Waffle Flower. It has an adorable bear on a bicycle, along with many flying friends.
Here is a video of all the how-to’s to making this card. But just in case you are not able to view the video, here is a brief run down of all the steps.
This card starts off with stamping the bear and all the little flying critters onto watercolor paper with Versafine Black Onyx ink and then coloring them with watercolors. When dry, they were all fussy cut out.
Next, is making the grassy scene. It starts with bristol paper and mowed grass, crushed olive and tumbled glass distress ink and a strip of Post-It tape. The Post-it tape is ripped along the length to give a grassy edge and placed on the paper. With Tumbled glass distress ink and a blending tool, the ink is applied to the top for the sky. When finished, I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the little flowers and leaves onto the edge of the grass, using the Post-it tape as a mask to only get the tops of the flowers and leaves. The mask was then removed.
The grass area was colored with Mowed Grass distress ink and a blending tool and little splashes of Crushed Olive distress ink were added for interest. Then, the flowers and leaves at the grass line were colored with Copic markers (G05, RV13, RV04, BG15, Y15, Y17).
The sentiment was stamped using a stamping positioning tool, like the MISTI, so that it could be stamped twice to get a dark impression. Then, little circles of Delicata White Shimmer ink were added to the sky, using the Heidi Swapp Confetti stencil and circles were added to the grass with Crushed Olive distress ink with the same stencil.
Next, I made a background to the background using bristol paper, I added Squeezed Lemonade distress ink around the edges, then with the Radiating Rays stencil added ‘rays’ with Worn Lipstick distress ink. The edges were rounded with a Chomper rounding tool.
With all the prep down, it is now time to assemble. The ‘rays’ background was taped to a white card base, then the grass scene was added on top with foam tape. The bear and all the critters were added with foam tape and/or tape runner. Clear sequins were added and a silver thread bow to the top.
