Winter Wonder

Winter Wonder

Hi my dear creative friends,

You might have guessed that I love the outdoors and all the little creatures included so I can never resist doing forest-y scenes, especially winter ones! This one uses the Summer Cabins and Lovely Layers: Trees by Honey Bee and the adorable fox from Alexandra Renke Forest Animals.

Take a look below for all the details.

I started by making the trees and cabin. I used Bristol paper to cut out all the pieces and then colored them by blending on some distress inks (as follows):

Trees: Peeled Paint, Iced Spruce, Rustic Wilderness, and Forest Moss
Cabin: Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, and Pumice Stone

Once all the pieces were colored, I assembled and glued them together and splattered them with my fave… Dr. Ph. Martin Bleedproof White ink. I also painted on the snow and icicles on the cabin.

I also cut out the fox from the Alexandra Renke Forest Animals die set. I just love these little critters! He was colored with Pumice Stone and Rusty Hinge distress inks.

The background was created by cutting an arch out of a 4.25×6.25″ white card stock panel. I used the Spellbinders Essential Arches die set and Neenah 110lb. white cardstock.  I also tore a strip of white cardstock for the snow in the scene and highlighted the edges with Faded Jeans distress ink.

The arched background was stamped with a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments stamp set by Penny Black. I used Midnight blue ink by Concord & 9th.

Ok, I was ready to put this all together. Using a 4.25×6.25″ (when folded) white cardstock card base and Midnight blue cardstock panel to cover the whole front of the card base, I taped the blue panel on top, and then started adding all the details.

The trees were arranged and glued, along with the cabin and the white snow bank.

I decided to add a moon so I cut a scrap of watercolor paper into a round and colored it with Wild Honey. It was then added to the scene.

Next, the arched panel was added with some foam tape. The cute fox was added to finish the scene.

I think the sentiment says it all… All is calm. All is bright.
