You Are My Favorite Snow Buddy!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Our friend, Lisa Tilson of My Card Trip has worked her creative magic, combined it with her awesome coloring skills and made the most adorable card design using My Favorite Things Snow Buddies stamp and die set. This one is a real cutey with these delightful little people and their dogs out in the snow!

Hello everyone,

Today I am back with a winter-themed card for you. I am using the Snow Buddies set from My Favorite Things. This set is another Birdie Brown creation, she always designs the most adorable images and this set is full of possibilities for scene building. Today I went with a snowy wintery wood theme and did some simple Copic colouring and ink blending.

I had in mind that I wanted to create a different coloured background for this card. I know purple is not a normal background colour, but sometimes it’s good to change it up a little. So when I coloured my images, I coloured them with that in mind.  They were all stamped onto Neenah 80lb with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I have listed the Copic colours below if you want to see the combinations that I used. Not going to lie, but the colouring did take some time but mostly as I wasn’t 100% sure which images I was going to use, so I coloured as many as possible!  In the end, I did use them all, so time well spent haha!

The images were cut with the coordinating die-namics and set to one side whilst I worked on the background. I applied Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides onto a panel with the darker shade just sitting above where the snowbanks would be positioned. I splattered some water over the panel and picked it up with a paper towel and left it to dry.  In the meantime, I die cut a couple of snow banks and birch trees.

To assemble the card, I first adhered the background panel to a base card, then added the white birch trees on top – these are adhered flat. The snowbanks were then popped up with foam tape and the snow buddies arranged amongst them. They are also popped up with foam tape, so this card has lots of dimension. Of course, it wouldn’t be me, if I didn’t add a little bling so I used a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to add shimmer to the hats, scarves, and gloves. All that remained was for me to stamp a sentiment from the set and pop that up also with foam tape.

It’s nice to have some winter-themed appreciation cards on hand, you just never know when a friend might need a little pick me up.  Thank you as always to Foiled Fox for having me and I wish you all a great day!
