Hi Creative Friends,

Today I am sharing a sweet card design that features a gorgeous stamp and die set by Penny Black called Elegant Beauty. What I love about this set is the three different floral motifs, along with a couple of sentiments, making it a complete package of goodies. Each motif is beautiful in its own right, so making choosing difficult. I am a sucker for ribbons, so I chose this one, but I will be making more cards and using the other floral sprays!

I, of course, started with the floral design mounted in my stamp positioner and stamped it first overall with Antique Linen ink to get a faint impression. I used hot-pressed watercolor for my paper. I love its smooth finish.

From there, I began my painting, using Wild Honey and Ripe Persimmon for the flowers, Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint for the leaves. The ribbon was painted with Seedless Preserves and a dash of villainous Potion distress inks.

As I went along, I restamped the flowers and leaves with Concord & 9th’s Sand ink pad/cube to redefine the lines. For the centers of the flowers, I colored the stamp in that area with a black Tombow marker and stamped again.

TIP: As usual, I never remove my panel from my stamp positioner until I am finished. By doing this, I can redefine the lines, as I go along, as needed.

Once the painting was complete and dry, I cut it out using the coordinating die.

For the rest of the card, I cut an A2-sized white cardstock panel and a matching cardbase. The white panel was mounted on top of the base. Then, two frames were cut from white cardstock using the Gentle Swell frame die set by Penny Black. They were stacked and glued together, then mounted on the front.

A smattering of Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint was ink-blended in the center, and the floral spray was mounted with foam squares.

I used one of the lovely sentiments in the set for my saying. It was stamped with Versafine Clair Fantasia ink to complete my card design!

I love painting Penny Black’s florals. They are so relaxing and rewarding. If you have used them before, then you know what I mean. And, if you haven’t yet, now is a good time. There are sooooo many lovelies to choose from!
