Simply The Zest!
Hi Creative Friends,
I am back with a fresh and sweet card design using the brand-new Into The Blooms: Lemon Blossom die set by Papertrey Ink. I love the Into The Blooms series but this one really struck a chord as it is exactly like the lemon branches on the tree in my garden!
There are so many ways you can use this die set, but for this one, I was inspired by the view out my back window.

I started with the lovely lemons and blossoms. I cut them from Bristol paper for easy ink-blending, then blended on Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, and a dash of Ripe Persimmon distress inks for the lemons themselves. The blossoms were colored with just a little Wild Honey, with the stamens colored with Wild Honey and Ripe Persimmon. The tips of the stamens have a touch of Ground Espresso distress ink (see all supplies below).
For the leaves, I first used Crushed Olive, then Mowed Lawn distress inks. When done, I assembled the flowers, then set all the lemon blossom pieces aside for now.

Next, I made an A2 white card stock card base and cut two A2-sized panels. The first panel was trimmed by 3/4″ on one end, then ink-blended with Tumbled Glass first, then Broken China and Salty Ocean distress inks. I was careful to leave the center a little lighter. I managed to do that, but looking at it now, the center could have been a little larger and lighter! Ugh! Hindsight is always better, isn’t it?
For the next step, I cut a white thin plaid grid using Concord & 9th’s Plaid Card Front Thin die, then added it on top of the blue panel. Any excess was trimmed off.
I chose a sentiment from the new Main Squeeze stamp set by Papertrey Ink and stamped it onto the remaining white card panel. The panel was then mounted to the front of the card base. The blue panel was next
I added a layer of foam to the back of the blue panel and added it to the card front.

The only thing left to do was to add foam squares to the back of the lemons, branch, leaves, lemons, and flowers, then arrange and apply them to the card front.
That completes my card. I can’t wait to send this card off to a friend. Hopefully, it will bring a smile to her face! ♥
