Birthday Peonies

Birthday Peonies

Hi Creative Friends

This card design was made especially for my daughter. She loves peonies, and what better way to say happy birthday than to make these gorgeous peonies from the Spellbinders Peony Celebration die set.

Of course, it all started with the flowers. This set has three parts to it. The first is the solid background, which was cut from white cardstock. The second and third are the outline and all the interior pieces. These I cut from Bristol paper for easy ink blending.

When cutting the detail (interior) pieces, I was VERY careful to keep them all intact so they could be mounted onto the solid background and then ink-blended with a few distress inks (Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and a slight dash of Wild Honey). When all the detail pieces were colored, the white outline piece was added on top. The leaves were colored with Bundled Sage and just a touch of Rustic Wilderness.

The foundation of the card was created by using a white card panel, then a gray embossed one on top. I used a discontinued Spellbinders embossing folder (ugh!) but the Spellbinders Four Petal one would be wonderful. I popped it into the supply list below in case you are interested.

Next, I cut a frame from white cardstock using the beautiful Penny Black Elongated Fancy dies, and mounted it on top with some foam squares. The flowers were added with the aid of some foam squares. A few sprigs of white cardstock leaves cut out using the Penny Black Leaves Creative Dies were tucked in here and there.

Using a strip of stout vellum, I stamped the birthday sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Rose Gold embossing powder. The strip was then wrapped around the completed panel, and the whole thing was applied to a white cardstock card base.

Thank you for joining me today. This card was a delight to make. I love how soft and delicate this card design turned out. It is perfect for my daughter. I hope you liked it too!
