Hi Crafty Friends,
WOW! You guys are fantastic!! Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and lovely thoughts! It was such a pleasure to read about you and your gratitude. I know it really makes our day to hear from you all.
We are also pleased as punch to have Heather Telford with us again today. We are always so excited to share her designs. She is an amazing talent and we are grateful to call her a friend!
Heather is sharing two designs with us today using the My Favorite Things Fluttering Friends stamp and die set. We hope these designs will inspire you to create something wonderful.
Hi again, my crafting friends,
I am happy to be back so soon to continue with our gratitude-themed week here on the Foiled Fox blog and on my own blog too. If you didn’t see my earlier post then just pop back to Monday and read about how grateful we are to you, the readers and followers of our blogs. It is so enjoyable to hear from you in the comments or visit your blogs. This week I am sharing three cards which express gratitude and the Foiled Fox is giving away three – $25 gift certificates to our readers who leave a comment here on the Foiled Fox blog or on my blog, telling us something they are grateful for. It does not have to be related to art and craft at all. You have until the end of Friday, October 5th to add a comment to any of this week’s gratitude posts. We will randomly choose a winner from each gratitude post and announce them on Tuesday, October 9th.
Today my cards feature some sweet dragonfly and butterfly stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. For my first card, I stamped and embossed the dragonflies and butterfly on hot pressed watercolor paper then painted them with a few pinks, oranges and reds from my set of peerless watercolors paints before die-cutting them with the coordinating dies.
I arranged them over a panel stamped and embossed in platinum powder with the ‘typewriter text’ stamp. I adhered the dragonflies directly to the text panel but popped the butterfly up on dimensional tape to be at the same level as the popped up sentiment. The sentiment, from the ‘brushstroke expressions’ set, is also stamped in Versamark then embossed in platinum powder.
I stuck with the same color scheme for the second card, platinum along with pink and orange paint. I started by painting a loose square on hot pressed watercolour paper in with peerless paint. Once it was dry I die-cut a square from it and one also from white adhesive backed foam. I attached the large panel to my card front, backed the square die cut with foam then stuck it back in the empty square space now popped up.
I embossed the dragonflies on lightweight vellum in platinum powder. I used to avoid embossing on vellum but I’ve found it works fine as long as you start with the heat tool nice and hot then keep it moving rather than pointed in one spot. I added three dots of morning dew Nuvo drops and a sentiment from the ‘all about you’ set.
Thank you for joining me here on the Foiled Fox blog. I hope you will take the time to add a comment telling me something you are thankful for. It is very encouraging to count blessings and I consider you among mine.
About Heather:
Both beautiful cards, Heather. The colors are striking. The script background makes them pop brilliantly.
I’m grateful for not only my kind husband, but for my siblings who are planning a jam packed Thanksgiving dinner next weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving), including a lip sync battle off between them and their kids!
Thank you Trina.
Is Thanksgiving really next weekend?! I had better get planning myself! The lip sync battle is a cool idea but I’m not sure if that would fly with my family! Sounds like a great weekend to look forward to.
Beautiful dragonflies! Love the gorgeous colors!
I am thankful to be retired from a stressful job!
Thank you Denise. I’m glad the stress of that job is behind you; I remember that feeling.
Today is a new day and I am thankful for the beautiful Summer/Fall weather…the air is fresh and clean and the sun is shining. “This is the day the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice in it’!
Your cards are lovely Heather and I always enjoy seeing your artistic endeavors…TFS!
Paper Hugs,
Jan
I love both these beautiful cards, Heather! Your gorgeous coloring has reminded me that I have Peerless watercolors in my cupboard & need to get them & play with them. Thanks for the great inspiration. I am so very thankful for each day I have with my wonderful husband. He is my rock & I can’t imagine life without him!
Thank you Patt, I tend to forget about my peerless paints too as they don’t take up much room but then when I pull them out I feel like they are the only ones I want to use! The colours are so lovely and the blending so smooth.
I feel so lucky to be able to take a monthly class from you Heather.
Thank you for sharing all your creativity and talent!
Gorgeous cards, lovely dragon flies! I am so thankful to be retired and I have more time to craft!
Such lovely cards! Thankful for my daughter who lets us facetime our 18 month old granddaughter every day. We live across the country so this is critical for us.
Oh these cards & the colours you used are gorgeous!! The dragonflies just shine on all that yummy colour. (Can a colour truly be yummy?) lol I am so very thankful for where we live. Each time I go somewhere I drive by the ocean & that is where I go when I need to find peace.
Love the beautiful, bold colors!! I’m grateful for this hobby, and all kinds of amazing inspirations!
Wonderful cards. Love the type background and beautiful embossed fluttering friends. I am thankful for artists like you who share their art and inspiration.
