Hi Creative Friends,
We have lots of new and wonderful stamps and dies by Simply Graphic in our shop, with many, many more to come in the next few days. I picked out a few of these charming stamps and dies for the project today.
I took a page out of Simply Graphic’s artistic style book to make this card. It starts with an A2 white card base, then a slightly smaller Kraft cardstock panel on top.
With the Kraft panel in place and using Versafine Black Onyx ink, I stamped a couple of leaf sprigs from the Winter Foliage set onto the kraft panel.
Next, I die-cut a white Large Foliage leaf, one black leaf sprig from the Autumn Branches die set, and another sprig from the same set but this time I used a piece of Antique Gold cardstock.
I wasn’t finished with die-cutting yet. I cut out three escargot (snails), one in white cardstock and two in Kraft cardstock. I removed the inside pieces of the white and one Kraft snail, then stacked and glued them together. Finally, this stack was added to a complete snail (outline and inside pieces). This gave the snail a little dimension without having to use foam tape.
Before I put all these pieces together to make my card, I wanted a thin diagonally striped paper strip. All I had in my paper stash was thicker lined paper so I made my own. This might seem like a big task but really it is pretty simple with a square piece of cardstock, an 8th Graph clear ruler, and 03 Mangaka (or 03 Pigma Micron) pen (see supply list).
Placing the ruler diagonally, point to point, I drew my first line using my 03 pen. This was my starting point. From there, it was just a matter of lining up the ruler, one grid in (1/8″) from the drawn line, and drawing the next line. Since the ruler is clear, it makes it super simple to draw lines 1/8″ apart. Just use the grid on the ruler and line up the line with the lines on the ruler.
With my diagonally striped paper done, I cut a 1 7/8″ x 4″ strip and mounted it on the bottom of the Kraft panel. Next, I made my sentiment strip. So, using a strip of black cardstock, I stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ with Versamark ink, then white heat embossed it.
To finish the card, I arranged the leaf sprigs I previously cut, then placed the sentiment strip over top to secure them. The escargot was mounted in place to finish the card. ♥
