Hello Fall

Hello Fall

Hi Creative Friends,

Today’s card design is a favorite of mine! The big, fat pumpkin in the brand new Pumpkin Blooms die set by Penny Black captured my heart!

I started my usual way with a piece of Bristol paper and cut out the pumpkin from Pumpkin Blooms, leaves from Leaves Turn, and more leaves from the Dignified die sets (see supply list). From there, it was on to the coloring… my favorite bit!

For each of the cut-out pieces, I used an ink dauber and a variety of distress inks and slowly built up layers of ink, especially for the pumpkin. The colors I used are:

  • Pumpkin: Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade,  Candied Apple, and a splash of Rusty Hinge to deepen the color.
  • Large leaves: Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, Rustic Wilderness, and a dash of Forest Moss
  • Small leave spray (Dignified die): Crushed Olive, Rustic Wilderness, and Forest Moss

Once the pieces were colored, I splattered small dots of water, then dots of Spiced Marmalade, Forest Moss, and Rusty Hinge.

While my elements were drying, I cut out the frame using Double Frames die set by Penny Black. For the top frame, I used My Colors Canvas card stock. This paper has a linen finish which is lovely. I cut out two, then sandwiched them together. For the second frame, I used Spellbinder’s Forest card stock, then glued the Linen Canvas frames to the Forest frame.

Next, I cut a panel to cover the entire back of the frames. This panel shows through the window of the frames so I swiped Antique Linen distress ink from top to bottom, let it dry, then stamped the sentiment using Rusty Hinge.

The whole panel was mounted onto a cream card stock card base.  The pumpkin and leaves were arranged, then mounted on top using foam squares.

To complete the picture, I added a few Blustery twigs cut from Antique Gold card stock.
